U.S. Fatalities in Iraq Exceed 9/11 Fatalities

Many have opined over the connection between the War in Iraq and the terrorist attack of 9/11. This past Friday, however, all opinions paled in comparison to one grave fact; the number of U.S. fatalities in Iraq (2, 974 victims) exceeded the number of deaths associated with the September 11th attacks in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania (2, 973 victims).

And I don’t wish to belittle the fatalities of this war by failing to mention the loss of non-U.S. fatalities. Those losses are just as lamentable and deserving of our mention.

If there is one force in war that does not discriminate it is, without a doubt, death.
