Summer jams are classic in nature. While pleasant, this track isn't close to crossing into classic territory.

Considering the fact that A) every summer has a "Summer Jam" (such as "Promiscuous Girl", circa 2006), and B) years go by between the production of actual classics, I find your explanation lacking Lightness.

Also, "Buy You A Drink" has carried the title of Summer Jam since the summer began. There is not anything that Theloneus Pain has produced that is even in the same orbit of the kingdom of classic...

The fact that you consider "Promiscuous Girl" a past summer jam says a great deal about your taste --or lack thereof-- in popular music.

Father forgive him, for he knows not what he does...

I'm sorry, I did not mean to offend Father. Please educate us with the name and artist of last year's Summer Jam. Inquiring minds would like to know...

Young Joc's "It's Going Down" and TI's "What You Know" instantly come to mind...

And you think they were classics?? Please Lightness, do yourself a favor and ask Father for forgiveness on that one. You'll have to answer for that response at some point...

Clearly, you don't believe that classic status is a prerequisite for a Summer Jam, as you previously stated...

Let's get something straight: there hasn't been a classic rap song released in years. However, every summer there is a song that reaches "Summer Jam" status. So, I will state it again: a summer jam does not have to be a classic.

Nelly Fertado, T-Pain, Missy Elliot. All of these artists have put out songs that were more popular, more crowd-pleasing summer songs than the likes of T.I, Nas, and other artists who are better rappers. Therefore, their songs have a better shot at Summer Jam status than some of the better rappers (yes, I know Nelly Fertado doesn't rap. My point is rapping is also not a prerequisite for a Summer Jam).

As for this rediculous thread of logic I keep reading: T.I. has never released a classic song. If he stopped making songs today, he (as well as his collection of songs) would merely be a footnote in the history of rap, a simple member of a mediocre-at-best era of rap music. His status within the context of rap music is relative, in that while he is one of the top 2 or 4 rappers out now, neither the quality nor quantity of his works stands up to actual classic artists and songs with any type of force, no matter what season they were released. Ya'll are so far deep amongst the trees, you can't see the forest. Look for the big picture!
